D. Jesus did not come to do his own will but the will of the Father who sent him. Jesus did everything according to the will of God. He did nothing that was not God’s will. Jesus also taught God’s will throughout his ministry. John 7:17 If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. New International Version II. To be united with God’s will the believer must have his will under subjection to God’s will. If a man chooses to be united with God’s will or not to be united with God’s will. Jesus chose God’s will and to be united with God’s will. Before the believer can walk as Jesus walked the earth the believer must yield his will to the will of God Almighty. John 6:38-39 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, New International Version A. The one praying must live according to God’s will. By living the will of God the one praying will have the same attitude as Christ Jesus. The one praying needs to be done, with or tired of this earthly life and desire a life of God’s will. I Peter 4:1-3 Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. As a result, he does not live rest of his life for evil human desires,
BUT FOR THE WILL OF God. New International Version B. Jesus is the example for a Christian to follow. Jesus did God’s will as he walked on earth in humanity as man. God’s will was Jesus' purpose of walking the earth as a man. Jesus always prayed according to God’s will. JOHN 13:15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. New International Version I Peter 2:21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. New International Version C. Jesus did exactly the will of God, the Father in Heaven. Jesus ministered as God ALMIGHTY had commanded him even though he was walking as a man on the earth. Jesus did the will of God to the fullest extent. HE did nothing as God but did God’s will as a man. He did every thing God showed him to do. |
